Hi. We the members of the Killeen Community Council are currently organising our first major fundraiser in 3 years and we hope you can help us.
We are currently selling tickets locally and there are many amazing prizes to be won. The prize draw will be held on Friday June 10th in P. Dan's Bar in Killadoon. Sincere thanks to all our sponsors of the prizes on offer.
Funds generated will be used to maintain and operate our beautiful Killeen Community Centre . We also will use funds generated to maintain and upkeep the green areas around Killeen and the 3 cemeteries. We are setting up this GoFundMe page to enable donations to be made by people with Killeen connections who may not be living in the area or for those who prefer to donate online. All donations of €10 or above made on GoFundMe will be entered in the prize draw on the night. Since 1976, The Killeen Community Council has been constantly striving to improve facilities for our people. Killeen Community Centre is our pride and joy and is available for use by our community to host various events and celebrations The centre is also available for holding meetings, training, Parent & Toddler group mornings etc. The Centre is owned by the people of Killeen since 1992 when their massive fundraising efforts enabled community ownership. The centre was originally owned by the Vocational Education Committee and was being disposed of in 1992. The Killeen Community Council, organised door to door collections to generate the necessary £6000 in a short space of time to purchase the building- the contribution was £50 per household. This was a large sum of money at the time, but the Killeen Community supported the effort to keep the ‘Tech School’ as it was known at the time for the use of the people of Killeen. The property is vested in the community and run by a board of Directors of the Killeen Community Council. It has worked well and succeeding Community Councils have done marvellous work in utilizing to the full the site available and providing a wide range of services to the community.
